The Koala™

Automated Sample Compartment

Koala

Koala™ is an automated sample compartment which can be utilized as the basic building block of a fully computer-controlled steady-state or time-resolved spectrofluorometer. Koala™ features a T-format geometry with automatic shutters in the excitation channel, the two emission channels, and the reference channel. The computer-controlled polarizers are mounted on a sliding track and need not be removed from the instrument. The standard sample compartment features a computer-controlled two-cuvette holder, thermostatted with an external liquid circulating bath. Two variable-speed, computer-controlled stirrers are mounted under the cuvettes. The stepper motors are driven by the parallel port of the computer.

A variety of optical components can be connected to Koala™ for light detection: monochromators, PMT housings, micro channel plate detectors housings, polychromators and diode array detectors; adapters for fiber optics bundles can be provided.

ISS can provide all the optical elements, as well as the acquisition and data analysis software to build a complete fluorometer.
