Working and Living in Champaign-Urbana
Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, are twin cities located in Central Illinois at about 130 miles (about 200 km) south of Chicago and 100 miles (160 km) west of Indianapolis, Indiana. The population of Champaign-Urbana is about 110,000 people while the population of the county and of the surrounding six counties reaches about 500,000 inhabitants.
Champaign-Urbana is home to the University of Illinois with about 45,000 students. The presence of the highly rated university contributes to make Champaign-Urbana one of the fastest-growing technological areas in the United States identified as the Silicon Prairie. The successful candidate will have some knowledge in electronics, or commensurate experience,
will be willing to learn, and become a team member. The required skills are: electro-mechanical
assembling aptitude, testing and troubleshooting of assemblies, prototype modifications and upgrades.
The production technician can also be assigned responsibility for new product documentation and
development of parts lists, work instructions and test procedures. Verbal and written communication
and computer skills are required. In addition, the position requires a good work ethic and attendance record.
This is a full time position with full benefits.

The position is for a person willing to join a dynamic team of software developers working in the ISS R&D department and involved in designing and developing software utilized in the latest ISS medical instrumentation. The ideal candidate has a BS/MS degree in computer science; although, other degrees qualify, as well; and experience in software development using C and C++ languages in the Microsoft Windows operating system. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with other programming languages (Python, Java).
